Reservations + Pen Show Info

In-Person Reservations

Reservations become available two weeks before an event.

Examples are an estimate of time use and not a unit limit. You are welcome to bring extra pens on the day or even ship them to me the month beforehand for final "hands on" verification at the show.

If it's your first time with the Nib Tailor, you are encouraged to come early and ask any questions. This is also a good time to explore the nib tester set.

Please be considerate of others and do not book more than 60 minutes per day.

If you see, "There are no appointment types available for scheduling," below then all times have filled for the event or it is too soon to book. (Reservations become available two weeks before an event.) Please check back the evening before or day of an event as clients are able to make changes after receiving their appointment reminders. You are also welcome to swing by the table and ask as pockets of time do free up.

Subscribe to the monthly mailing list below for early access to an event reservation (whenever possible).

Pen Show Grinds & Set-Ups

All time slots are handled through this online reservations system. You will receive a confirmation email after submitting your chosen time(s). Please use this confirmation email in the event that you need to reschedule or cancel your time so fellow fountain pen enthusiasts may utilize any openings on the day. If no times are available online, you are welcome to inquire in person as some guests do not require their full time and you could be fit in before the next appointment. Events that offer “early access” hours are typically treated as “first come, first served” unless these time slots are also made available online. “Early access” hours are a good opportunity for those without an appointment.

My goal is providing the cleanest nibwork possible to as many people as the situation permits. I do not strive to be the fastest nibist on the block, but I want to be respectful of every guest’s time so I appreciate your patience and generosity.

Ultimately, you are welcome to “come as you are” for nib grinds and set-ups. For general adjustments and minor size reductions, I recommend bringing your pen ready to write with the ink and paper it will most frequently use. For bent tine repairs, major size reductions, and custom regrinds I prefer a cleaned and dry pen as most of the ink may be lost in the process. If you are only at the show for a short period then it might be wise to purchase one of the pre-shaped nibs instead. Alternatively, you can mail a pen to me ahead of the show, leave a pen with me for after the show, or pre-purchase your custom nib unit to guarantee availability at the show. As always, please contact me before mailing any materials.

Why Me?

In 2018, the esteemed nibmeister whose work I have primarily studied and modeled my own clean style after was gracious enough to review some of my nibworks. He was pleased and advised that I begin to offer services to the pen community, recommending that I start to set up a table at pen shows. This is me, listening to the wisdom of my elder. Purchasing my nibs, pens, and services provides you with a better writing experience and helps secure the future of one more professional nib specialist for the community. Thank you for joining me on my journey.
